Youth Education

“We must restore hope to young people, help the old, be open to the future, spread love. Be poor among the poor. We need to include the excluded and preach peace.” – Pope Francis

The goal of our Parish Religious Educational Program (PREP) is to bring the teachings of Jesus and the love of God to all who attend.

The program is offered to children from Grades 1 to 7.  We have seven levels of instruction with Level Two being the First Reconciliation and First Communion Program, and Level Seven being the Confirmation Program.  We also offer an accelerated program for older students who may not yet have received their First Communion or who may have been away from the program for many years. We require Levels 5 and 6 to be completed before moving into Level 7, which is Confirmation.

P.R.E.P. is taught by laypeople from the parish who have a desire to spread the Good News!

Religious Education classes for Kindergarten to grade 8 students run from September to June.  Classes are generally held on Saturdays from 4:00 – 4:55 p.m. before the 5:00 p.m. Mass.  Students receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion when they are in grade 2 or at the end of their second year of PREP classes if they start at an older age.  Students receive the sacrament of Confirmation when they are in grade 7 or after a minimum of three years of PREP classes if they start when they are older.

If your children are of school age, you can register them for PREP classes at any time by picking up a registration form at the entrance of the church, filling it out and dropping it in the collection basket with the fee of per child $15 per family $25; or you can contact our PREP coordinator.

Our program is still looking for people to volunteer to be Catechists. If you have one hour to help on Saturday’s, it would be most appreciated.

Do you have a talent that you could share with the children? This would be a win win situation where the children learn something from you and you will learn something from them.
